Abstract

This paper presents a scene written in the style of a sainete (a short, humorous, and popular theatrical piece) to illustrate the importance of implementing preventive measures only when they are truly justified. Preventive interventions are not free from adverse effects and may lead to overtreatment, ultimately causing more harm than benefit. In this sense, this sainete encourages critical reflection on the widespread maxim “prevention is better than cure” by offering a nuanced counterpoint grounded in the principles of quaternary prevention.
