Abstract

The clinical evaluation process begins from the patient's very first consultation, reaching a turning point on the day of the appointment to communicate the diagnosis. When individuals enter the consultation room, they bring with them their hopes, uncertainties, fears and vulnerabilities. They may leave with more questions than answers, facing the need to adapt to a new reality. Active listening, empathy and support must be present in all phases of healthcare. This text aims to reflect the hours leading up to a patient learning the name of her illness.
