Through a rainbow of dissident voices that inhabit the depths of a rural and sometimes hostile India, with the body and freedom of women who dedicate their lives to the field of others, I immerse myself in the daily struggles to survive and reinvent themselves, hand in hand with Rhuna and Ruhi, two patients first, friends later, who taught me so much during my time as a medical volunteer in Kolkata caring for women burned with acid by their husbands. In this autobiographical account I try to raise awareness about what it means to be a woman, depending on where you are born, the culture that surrounds you and your possibilities of developing your own economy, with a support network.
