The name identifies us and influences our relational world. The way we call people has been based over the centuries on the phenomena of nature, myths and gods. Names can therefore have magical properties, but they can also condition us forever, much to our regret. All names are full of meaning and influence our destiny. We can earn a name through our work and prestige, change it (nickname, pseudonym, hypocoristic) and even lose it little by little, through poverty, illness or cognitive impairment.
In the doctor-patient relationship, trust is based on mutual recognition. The name of those who come to the consultation is a letter of introduction, a look and an open door to the bond. And through the bond, a therapeutic relationship is established based on affection, attention, action and acceptance. Communication in the clinic begins with the greeting and the identification of the person by name.
