Abstract

The new law on waste and contaminated soils for the promotion of the
circular economy in the Valencian Community was approved on November 10,
2022, by the Valencian Parliament, and is a disruptive legal norm for waste
prevention, ecological transition, and the promotion of the circular economy.
is inspired by a high degree of environmental protection and adaptation to the
context of combating climate change, ensuring a more rational and efficient
use of natural resources and ecosystems. With this new law, the Valencian
Community adapts to the European strategic objectives in terms of waste and
circular economy, thus replacing Law 10/2000, of December 12, on waste in
the Valencian Community, far exceeded by the current state and European
legal framework and by the socioeconomic and environmental reality.
