Abstract

The circular economy model spearheads the response to the climate emergency and other environmental challenges from the sphere of the productiondistribution-consumption system. By its nature, the model responds adequately to a pattern of industrial activity, which produces material goods for final consumption. In the prevailing service markets, however, the adjustment of the relevant and effective principles of the circular economy is more complex. Therefore, in order to extend to the whole productive system a clear, effective and decisive message like this one, flexible and daring interpretations of such principles are needed, adapting them to the particularity of each service market.
This is mainly appropriate in the case of transports and the mobility system, due to their significant share of responsibility in the greenhouse gases emissions and other damages caused to environment. These problems are particularly significant in the urban mobility. Based on these considerations, this article sets out to interpret the main existing measures for sustainable urban mobility in accordance with the precepts of the circular economy. By this, it aims to propose an imaginative interpretation, that will contribute to coining a concept of «circular urban mobility», that put into relation the multiple ways of intervention implemented in
favour of sustainable mobility in conurbations.
